Dear Partner in the Gospel,
July is an interesting time of the year here in the Phoenix area. Whereas in many places summertime marks an upbeat in activity, around here things tend to slow down markedly. Not surprising for an area where the residents don`t even notice the heat until it`s over 110 degrees. In July the monsoon season rolls around and we get rainfall ranging from spotty to torrential and sometimes huge dust storms that are locally known as `haboobs.` The upside is somewhat cooler weather. And we`re not complaining about that.
Last month, our daughter, Kriya, and family moved to Europe due to a job promotion. We have been adjusting to their absence. As you might recall, our move out here was to be close to them and we`ve been quite involved in their lives, especially with our grandkids. Well, the Lord has provided good friends and ministry here to make up for their being gone, and we`re thankful for that. In addition, we get to go visit them in Geneva, Switzerland for a month in late September. That should be very enjoyable.
With the grandkids gone, Margaret is able to re-direct her energies to the ministry of donor development in the region. Both she and I are responsible to find and develop believers who want to be a part of what New Tribes Mission is accomplishing for the Lord around the world. It has been great meeting and building relationships with committed Christians who share a vision for reaching the unreached. Please pray that we?ll be effective ambassadors for the Lord.
Both of us have opportunity to be involved with and sometimes teach Bible studies. This has been a very rewarding experience as we`ve seen people growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus. These studies have also yielded several good contacts for ministry and a number of very good friends.
In late August we will travel to Missouri to meet our son, Josh, as he is released from prison. Thank you, all who have prayed for him. Please continue to do so as he transitions back into a life of freedom. For the past year or so, Josh has been walking with the Lord and seeking His will for the future.
Son, Nate, and family continue to serve the Lord with Mission Aviation Fellowship in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Nate flies a Caravan over there and is fast becoming one of their senior pilots. His wife, Terra, is a full-time mom and teacher to their two little ones. Your prayers are always welcome for Nate`s general safety in flying, and for the health and safety of the entire family. Living in the Congo is not easy.
Corrie and Andrew are living near St. Louis, where Andrew works for Cessna Aviation. Corrie, too, is a full-time wife and mother. They may be making a job-related move to Kansas in the fairly near future.
Hopefully, you know how much we appreciate your involvement in our ministry. Without your partnership, we simply could not continue to serve with NTM. Paul`s comment to the Thessalonian church is very meaningful to us as we think of you: `We give thanks, always for you all - ` I Thess.1:2-3
Please let us know how we can be praying for you.
In His love,
John & Margaret
