ILF Prayer - June 2012

The first Tuesday of every month is a day of prayer and fasting for our team members. We encourage all who pray for ILF to join us.

Expression of thanks from Tim Brandt, the ILF Executive Board Chairman:

``As Cathie and I were discussing the near miraculous funding of the Accra offices, Cathie noted that we forgot to thank all those who prayed for this project. Indeed, while Jerry and others deserve full credit for hard work in raising the funds, and many deserve heartfelt thanks for listening and being good stewards of what God has blessed them with in giving to this project, let us thank the invisible army of prayer warriors who were `holding up Jerry`s arms` while the battle for the funding raged for these last months. May God richly bless them for their faithfulness!!!!! You know who you are!``

``Give thanks to the LORD, call on His name; make known among the nations what He has done. Sing to Him, sing praise to Him; tell of all His wonderful acts. Glory in His holy Name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.`` 1 Chronicles 16:8-10

Resource Development

There are three ILU projects in process that are in need of successful funding. Please pray that adequate funds will be raised for the E-Learning launch at ILU Kenya/NIST; $105,000 is needed to fund this project. Also, please pray for $235,000 which is needed for renting and equipping additional classrooms at ILU Burundi, as well as the $156,000 needed for phase one of a permanent campus for ILU Burundi on the Kabezi property given to the school by the Government of Burundi.

Please pray that necessary renovations of the buildings for the ILF Office and Training Center will be completed quickly, and that funds will be provided to equip and furnish the buildings.

There will be a very important ILF global planning meeting to be held in early August in Chicago. Please pray many partners will be able to attend that meeting, and that God will be honored and glorified by the discussions and decisions made during the meeting.

Please pray for the Resource Development training that is scheduled to take place in Nairobi, Kenya, September 7, 8 and 10 for the Africa Leadership Team and the meetings that will directly follow, September 11-13. Pray for God to direct the training and team discussions so these are productive and will further God`s Kingdom in Africa.

Join us as we continue to lift up our sister, Sue Roise. Specifically pray that Sue Roise`s `numbers` will go in the right direction and she will not have to resume chemotherapy. Join them in praying this scripture: ``Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God`s will for you in Christ Jesus.`` I Thessalonians 5:16-18

AFREG 3

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the AFREG 3 Planning Committee made the difficult decision to postpone the third African Forum on Religion and Government (AFREG 3) which was scheduled to be held in Lusaka, Zambia from 25-28 September 2012. AFREG 3 will still be held in Lusaka, but the forum has been postponed until 24-27 September 2013. Pray for the Planning Committee conference call which will be held, Tuesday, June 5, to discuss the way forward.

Burundi

The Burundi TLS organizing team has scheduled their next TLS 1 for August 20-21. Pray for effective recruiting and planning. They are also overseeing the transformational projects initiated during the TLS 2 held in March. Pray that these projects and the seminar will come together well and be used by God to build into the lives of leaders in Burundi.

Pray for wisdom in how to develop and engage the TLS participants long-term, as well as integrate their influence and transformational activities with ILU-Burundi and their nation`s needs.

Cameroon

The first ILF Cameroon board meeting will be held next Monday, June 4th, from 4 to 6 pm at the ILF office in Yaounde. It will be a `first contact` meeting to give the members an opportunity to understand the vision of ILF Cameroon and to ask questions. Please pray with us that God will lead members to own the vision and embrace this challenge with a deep sense of calling. Pray for God's direction and leadership as the board meets.

We thank God that the flyers and posters are ready for the Y2L Camp ``LIMBE 201`` with the theme: ACT! RESPOND! RESCUE! ```By the time the sun is hot tomorrow, you will be delivered.` When the messengers went and reported this to the men of Jabesh, they were elated.`` (1 Samuel 11:9c) Camp Limbe is scheduled for July 1-8. Pray for God to give inspiration to the Intercessory Team as they elaborate the program for the Fasting and Prayer for the month of June 2012, as a preparation of Y2L Camp. Pray for the mobilization of 60 young people to participate in the camp. Ask God to give divine provisions, wisdom, finances and materials to the Planning Committee. ``The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.`` Psalm 23:1

Praise the Lord for the smooth progress that is being made in the official registration process of ILF-Cameroon and continue to pray for successful completion.

Let us thank God for abundant rains that have allowed planting to be done, especially at IPONI.

Pray for the Young Leader senior coach, Willy Tsemo, that he might be always filled with the Holy Spirit and encouraged in his ministry.

Please continue to pray for the transformation of Young Leaders according to 1 Timothy 4:12, ``Don?t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.`` Pray for deeper impact of LADS lessons in the lives of the Young Leaders.

Pray that equipment (computers, printers, etc.) will be safe and work well to serve the purposes they are meant for, as well as for brother, Georges AKEM, and his team of Communicators who are working on all the necessary support for our communications. Pray for good collaboration, effectiveness, and the necessary finances.

Lift up continual prayer for Victor and Florence Manyim according to Isaiah 40:31``...but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.``

Pray for continual daily growth and edification for the Cameroon ILF Team. ``And they continued steadfastly in the apostles` doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved. ``Acts 2:42-47.

Chad

Please continue to pray for the Lord`s leading as the ILF-Chad team considers the best dates for TLS 1 and an ILF Vision-casting event in the fall. They will be holding a meeting tomorrow, Saturday, June 2 to discuss the dates of September 18-21, 2012 for this training. Ask the Lord to clarify the best ways to move forward both strategically and administratively. Pray for one or more individuals to have the time and connections to carry this vision and begin implementation.

Support the FTL prayer department as they work to expand the scope of prayer at every level, which is needed to experience genuine transformation in this nation.

DRC

Pray for the work that is being done to register ILF as an official entity in DRC and for the identification of ILF Board members. Pray for a strong national team to be put in place to give leadership to ILF initiatives, including the need to reconnect with many of the people who participated earlier in TLS 1 and TLS 2.

A TLS 1, along with a facilitator`s workshop, and a TLS 3 are tentatively planned for Kinshasa later this year.

Gabon

Pray for members of the ILF team who will be interacting with various leaders in Libreville from August 6-9 to discuss the possibilities of conducting TLS in this nation. This opportunity came about through the TLS 1 held in Cameroon last year.

Ghana

The Central Region AFREG-Ghana Leadership Forum is scheduled to take place June 6-8 at the Centre for National Culture, Cape Coast, Ghana. Praise God for the good progress made and for the approximately 300 central regional leaders to engage on effective partnership between the State and Church in the socio-economic transformation of Ghana. Invitations have been sent to speakers and dignitaries. Please pray for favorable responses and availability for all whom the Lord has called to attend and participate. Pray also for safety and security during the event.

Praise God for a successful AFREG-Ghana Youth Press Launch that occurred on May 24. It was aired nation-wide via state owned radio. Please pray that the vision of AFREG-Ghana would continue to spread beyond expectation.

Continue to pray for the first AFREG-Ghana National Youth Leadership and Mentoring Summit for 500 selected national youth leaders from Government, Religion, Education, Business, Arts and Entertainment, Family and Media. The summit is scheduled for August 6-12, at the Central University College, Accra-Ghana. Praise God that the TLS will be incorporated in the National Youth AFREG-Ghana mentoring program.

Pray that a carefully designed Leadership Development and Mentoring process based on the 50-500-50 strategy would be implemented. This involves well respected and accomplished national leaders of integrity and excellence mentoring a core group of 50 carefully selected emerging leaders who will, in turn, mentor 500 identified young leaders on specific national projects over a six year period from 2012-2018.

Praise God for the successful TLS that took place May 13-14 for KNUST student leaders. A total of 80 student leaders and two senior members participated. Please pray for good follow-up and mentoring.

Pray for changes in attitude among university students on campus. Pray for wisdom and grace for the heads of these institutions as they try to instill and enforce discipline. Continue to pray for a favorable response and good timing for other doors to open for Transforming Leadership Seminars in Ghana. Pray that these organizations, institutions and churches will respond in good time and be committed to the agreed dates. Let us pray that this model is adopted by other faculties within KNUST, especially with the signing of the MOU with the University leadership.

Praise God for the new opportunity to conduct TLSs for the leadership, faculty and student leadership of the Ghana Baptist University College (GBUC) during the 2012/2013 academic year and the possibility of incorporating the TLS in the core curriculum of the School of Business Administration and the School of Theology and Ministry. GBUC may open the door to equipping churches in the Ghana Baptist Convention as well as other churches and Christian groups in the region.

Thank God for the windows of opportunity granted the church in Ghana to organize a revival in April. Thank God for the human resources He has used to bring about this revival, especially the leadership of various church councils and willingness of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) to commit time and resources for this program. Please pray for an effective follow-up to the BGEA in Ghana.

Continue to pray for Ghanaians as they prepare for elections in 2012. Ask God to guide the process of choosing His leaders for Ghana and that the election would be free, fair and peaceful.

Kenya

Please pray as the ILF Kenya team works on their Strategic Plan. Pray that the Lord will guide and direct the team, good progress will be made and the Kenya team will be open to the Holy Spirit so that God`s work would be accomplished His way.

We just learned of the passing of the mother of Matata Kilungu, our ILF Kenya National Team Leader. Please remember the Kilungu family in your prayers that God will comfort, encourage and strengthen the family through this difficult time of loss.

Madagascar

Madagascar has not had a democratically-elected president for the past four years and poverty is increasing because the country is sanctioned by various international organizations. The nation`s two government parties cannot find common ground. Please pray that God touches the hearts of the current leaders to be humble and to recognize that the country`s current situation is disastrous for all aspects of life and for Malagasy society as a whole.

Seychelles

Preparations are underway for the first TLS 1 and 2 to be held in the Seychelles from August 11-14. Pray for wisdom and guidance for the planning team and that there will be excellent attendance and participation. Please pray for protection for Dela, Dr. Victor Koh, Professor Paul Buatsi who will be leading the TLS.

South Sudan

Pray for successful peace talks between North Sudan and South Sudan. We have tentatively rescheduled the TLS 1 for September 25-27. Please pray for God`s intervention, protection and peace for the people of South Sudan and wisdom for those on the TLS planning team.

Zimbabwe

TLS 3 is scheduled to take place on June 18-19 for those participants who have completed TLS 1 and 2. Please pray for the success of this TLS, as well as the Life Story Events (LSEs) that will be organized before the next seminar takes place. Life Story Events give these leaders an opportunity to speak with their professional friends, community leaders and/or family members about their commitment to transformation and to share how their faith is a crucial part of this change. Please pray for the Zimbabwe TLS leadership team, fondly known as `the G4 team,` as they plan to host this follow-up aspect so that both the professional emphasis and the ministry activities can be done side-by-side. Pray also for wisdom as the team in Zimbabwe seeks to identify the most qualified person to lead and recruit additional prayer team members.
