Missionary Update: Mark & Holly Woodard
Post Date: 2012-05-21 15:35:05
Hi Friends & Family!

We have had a lot of comings & goings, plus exciting things going on in the past few weeks.

The Mariama Church, along with some Anganamai believers - these people are our Highlight!

We flew out to the town of Wewak to help with some responsibilities and so that Mark could go to some meetings and on some trips. Check out the picture below, L to R: Keno (Mariama teacher), Mark, Job (YembiYembi teacher), & Brooks Buser (fellow church-planter in Yembi) went on a 5-day trip to visit 2 other village churches. The purpose was to encourage & evaluate & `give steer` to the fellow brothers and sisters. Mark and Brooks got to do some training for their own up and coming church leaders (Keno and Job) at the same time.

Meanwhile, Holly & the boys stayed in the coastal town of Wewak, where Holly`s brother CHAD EARL joined them, after hiking 12 hours out of a bush location.
Holly was sick for a couple weeks with a nasty ulcer on her leg which caused an infection throughout her body - now it is becoming a very pretty scar.

We returned to Mariama last week to be a part of a commissioning service for our leaders-teachers and a baptism. 27 people baptized. Check out the JOY on the faces of these guys baptizing Manase! And yes, that is SWEAT on Brian & Mark`s shirts!

Our coworkers` 2 oldest kids, Trenton & Sophia, were also baptized last Sunday. Brian`s dad and brother from the USA were visiting the tribe. It was an exciting weekend catching up with everyone, having multiple meetings & opportunities for discipleship, and doing some fixing! The weekend we were home in Mariama the airstrip lawn mower, generator, and washing machine all needed a little TLC, to say the least. On Monday, our family loaded into a dug-out canoe with 7 leaders and their families, and headed for another village for a BIBLE LEADERS CONFERENCE! It was an amazing time. We had motor trouble on the way & found a friend on the river with a banana boat and motor we could use. There are lots of stories to tell and pictures to show, but we`ll save that one for the next letter. Mark just got back this week where he hiked around the jungle exploring a brand new people group, along with 3 brand new missionary men. Since we are in town right now, Holly posted some of his trip pictures on FACEBOOK for you to see. There is never a dull moment doing this job; that is for sure!

WITH MUCH GRATEFULNESS for each and every one of you,

Mark, Holly, Allie, Brandt, Bryce, and Brock Woodard
