International Leadership foundation (ILF) Prayer May 2012
The first Tuesday of every month is a day of prayer and fasting for our team members. We encourage all who pray for ILF to join us.
The final payment for purchasing the ILF Office buildings in Accra is due April 30. On April 26, we received word that the remaining funds needed to reach the goal of $1.1 million had been given. Please join us in thanking and praising God for what HE has done! ``Then it was said among the nations, `The LORD has done great things for them.` The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.`` Psalm 126:2b-3
Please thank God for our faithful ministry partners and continue to pray that God will lead us to new partners for both ILF and ILU.
Praise God for the encouraging and productive ILF Leadership Team meetings that were held in Nairobi from March 12-14 to discuss organizational changes and strategy. We are grateful to the Lord for His clear guidance in all the interactions which took place.
Please pray for the TLS facilitators and all ILF staff to live lives of integrity as role models so that God can use them powerfully to launch a transformational movement in Africa and beyond.
A prayer team needs to be formed for the TLS initiative. Pray for increased capacity to meet the demand for these seminars across the continent. Pray for more people to be trained as facilitators, to handle operations, to help with follow-up of transformation projects and for more funds to be available locally.
Continue to hold Sue and John Roise and their family in prayer as Sue battles cancer. Their desire is found in 1Thess. 5:16-18, which states `Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.`
AFREG 3
Continue to pray for AFREG 3 that is scheduled to take place in Lusaka, Zambia from September 25-28, 2012. We are anticipating that at least 250 African leaders will participate in this forum with the theme of `Empowering Leadership for Transforming Africa.`
Burundi
The Burundi TLS organizing team is considering holding a TLS 1 in July. Pray for firm dates and effective planning. They are also overseeing the transformational projects initiated during the TLS 2 held in March. Pray that these seminars will come together well and be used by God to build into the lives of leaders in Burundi.
Pray for wisdom in how to develop and engage the TLS participants long-term, as well as integrate their influence and transformational activities with ILU-Burundi and their nation`s needs.
Cameroon
Praise the Lord for the progress that is being made in the official registration process of ILF-Cameroon.
Pray for God`s favor as plans are in process to hold the first ILF-Cameroon Board meeting in May. Praise God for His direction and strength during the strategic planning meetings that were held last month. Pray for God`s divine provision for all the resources needed to implement the plan.
There is a great need to build capacity for ILF-Cameroon as a whole. More qualified and committed workers are needed to meet the growing demands for our services. Also needed are additional finances and strategic materials like vehicles. Please pray for God`s divine provision as it relates to these needs.
We are thankful to the Lord for revealing the leadership of Young Leaders through the implementation of two community projects. The first project is the school corn garden that was started and developed by the IPONI Young Leaders Club and the second is the provision of four large flower buckets for the school campus by the Victoire Young Leaders Club.
Continue to pray for God`s wisdom, inspiration, direction and favor to gather all the resources needed for the next Young Leaders camp that will take place from July 1-8 and for God`s work in the life of each young person who will attend.
Pray for wisdom for the team as they interact and plan with government leaders, who are interested in opening the door for the youth of the nation to be trained through the LADS curriculum and Y2L.
Chad
Please continue to pray for the Lord`s leading as the ILF-Chad team considers the best dates for TLS 1 and an ILF Vision-casting event. Ask the Lord to clarify the best ways to move forward both strategically and administratively. Pray for one or more individuals to have the time and connections to carry this vision and begin implementation.
Support the FTL prayer department as they work to expand the scope of prayer at every level, which is needed to experience genuine transformation in this nation.
DRC
Praise God for the fruitful and encouraging time that Dr. Basolene and Dr. Bosela had with key leaders in Kinshasa. Pray for the work that is being done to register ILF as an official entity in DRC and for the identification of ILF Board members. Pray for a strong national team to be put in place to give leadership to ILF initiatives, including the need to reconnect with many of the people who participated earlier in TLS 1 and TLS 2.
A TLS 1, along with a facilitator`s workshop, and a TLS 3 are tentatively planned for Kinshasa in August 2012.
Ghana
Praise God for the commitment of the Central Region AFREG-Ghana Working and Advisory Committee. The main conference is scheduled to take place from June 6-8, 2012. Please ask God to choose those who will participate in the Central Region AFREG-Ghana conference.
The National AFREG Youth Committee is also working very hard. Ask God for wisdom and favor as they meet with others, as well as provision of all the financial resources needed for this conference. The first phase of the Youth AFREG-Ghana Plan is called 50-500-50. This is one-quarter of the main vision of 200, 2,000, and 200. The discipleship conference for the first 500 youth is scheduled for August. AFREG covets your earnest prayers as God works through these youth to carry out this vision for change.
Thank you for continuing to pray for positive responses and the Lord`s timing in opening doors for additional Transformation Leadership Seminars in Ghana.
Praise God we are on the verge of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the KNUST concerning the year-by-year facilitation of these seminars. The goal is to conduct the TLS four times a year.
The first TLS for KNUST student leaders is scheduled for May 13-14, 2012. Please pray that the students are positively impacted by the training and that a good follow-up plan will be in place.
We praise God for Professor Paul Buatsi, the ILF Executive Director for Africa. Continue to pray for a smooth transition, wisdom, insight, and good health as he serves in this crucial position. Pray for wisdom to raise local funds for the operational needs of ILF in Ghana.
Continue to pray for Ghanaians as they prepare for national elections in December 2012. Ask God to guide the process of choosing His leaders and that these elections would be free, fair and peaceful.
Kenya
The ILF-Kenya Board is grateful to the Lord for bringing the person we believe He has prepared to be our National Team Leader (NTL, serving in the role of Chief Executive Officer). Mr. John Matata Kilungu has extensive experience in designing and running training programs and seems to be a good fit for this role. Most recently, he served as head of the HR Department at the Mombasa Polytechnic University College. He began his new role with ILF-Kenya on April 23.
We thank God that the ILF-Kenya Board has engaged Ms. Kathy Okumali to fill the position of Operations Coordinator (Administrator) on an 8-month renewable contract effective May - December 2012. Please pray that we are able to generate sufficient funds from training and consultancy fees to sustain Mr. Kilungu, Ms. Okumali, office operations and continue to grow our programs.
Pray for the TLS 1 scheduled for May 15-16 and for Dr. Victor Koh who will be leading, along with local facilitators who are spearheading the TLS.
Madagascar
Madagascar has not had a democratically-elected president for the past four years and poverty is increasing because the country is sanctioned by various international organizations. The nation`s two government parties cannot find common ground. Please pray that God touches the hearts of the current leaders to be humble and to recognize that the country?s current situation is disastrous for all aspects of life and for Malagasy society as a whole.
Seychelles
Preparations are underway for the first TLS 1 to be held in the Seychelles from August 11-14. Pray for wisdom and guidance for the planning team and that there will be excellent attendance and participation. Please pray for protection for Dela, Dr. Victor Koh and the other facilitators who will be leading the TLS.
South Sudan
`For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.` (Ephesians 6:12)
`After over two decades of civil war, six years of tentative peace, and a year since the independence of South Sudan, new refugees from Sudan`s embattled Nuba Mountains, including a large population of Christians, give evidence of an unfolding humanitarian crisis, ethnic cleansing, and forewarning of a broader conflict.` (World magazine, May 5, 2012 issue)
With North Sudan and South Sudan on the brink of full scale war, the TLS 1 which was scheduled to take place at the end of April had to be postponed. Please pray for God`s intervention, protection and peace for the people of South Sudan and wisdom for those on the TLS planning team.
Zimbabwe
TLS 3 is scheduled to take place on June 18-19 for those participants who have completed TLS 1 and 2. Please pray for the success of this TLS, as well as the Life Story Events (LSEs) that will be organized before the next seminar takes place. Life Story Events give these leaders an opportunity to speak with their professional friends, community leaders and/or family members about their commitment to transformation and to share how their faith is a crucial part of this change. Please pray for the Zimbabwe TLS leadership team, fondly known as `the G4 team,` as they plan to host this follow-up aspect so that both the professional emphasis and the ministry activities can be done side-by-side. Pray also for wisdom as the team in Zimbabwe seeks to identify the most qualified person to lead and recruit additional prayer team members.
