ILF Prayer April 2011
Our Mission is to build leaders of integrity to spearhead transformation in Africa and beyond. We pray that the Lord will strengthen us as leaders, deepening our resolve to live holy lives to shine with the love of Jesus.
ILF has received invitations to be involved well beyond Africa. Please pray that God would guide our Resource Development team, led by Jerry and Kathy Ball, to people and foundations that have a heart for reaching leaders and engaging them in leadership development and training.
Praise the Lord that the Life Change Studies are completed and being field-tested. Pray for broad usage and quality feedback to enable us to identify and modify any lessons that need additional refinement for more effective use.
Burundi
Praise God that the Government of Burundi has offered to ILU Burundi the gift of a six acre site on the shores of Lake Tanganyika to develop a campus. Pray for all the legal work to go smoothly and to be completed in a timely manner.
Cameroon
Thank God for the TLS held in Cameroon, March 9th - 11th. There was good representation from the business community, Members of Parliament (MPs), middle management, the academic community and churches. Each of these groups has designed transformational projects and agreed to implement them. Pray for effective follow through. The MPs? project is to organize a TLS specifically for MPs in November. This requires much favor, especially from the President of the Parliament. His openness will facilitate the project greatly. Pray that he will give his permission this week before Parliament takes a long recess.
Other follow-up requests include provision of finances to make up the deficit for this TLS, follow-up of each participant, clear communication and organization on every level and in every direction.
Andrea Madden was able to train a good group of intercessors in Cameroon and identified Sylvia Tipa to take the lead in providing prayer support for ILF Cameroon. Pray for Sylvia as she juggles this new role with her other responsibilities along with being the mother of a newborn.
Thank God that each of the TLS facilitators individually remarked that the on-site prayer cover made a noticeable difference in their ability to teach the material and the participants? ability to receive it, as compared to other TLSs where there has not been an on-site prayer presence.
Thank God for the TLS Administrators Training for ILF Cameroon. Praise God that a strong administrative foundation has been laid. Continue to lift up the administrators to grow in these skills that will facilitate the growth of ILF for years to come.
Chad
Pray for the more than 20 key leaders who are involved in AFREG Chad. These leaders include the Prime Minister, current and past MPs, military generals, CEOs and heads of NGOs. Pray that each of these leaders will run with the vision to help bring lasting stability and transformation to Chad.
DRC
Pray for Tim Mwangi, who was recently in DRC to meet with the leadership in Kinshasa. They worked together to determine the best ways to build a strong foundation for future TLSs and subsequent follow-up. Please pray this team will implement the specific plans that were developed and follow the concrete and achievable steps that were identified to bring the plan to pass.
Ethiopia
The Emerging Leaders Initiative (ELI) is a strategy for equipping young Campus Crusade for Christ International (CCCI) national staff leaders in Africa. ELI is a two-year accelerated development program that includes structured coaching, intensive reading, written assignments, daily journal reflections, and attending a ten-day residential training every six months. In addition, the CCCI LeaderLed movement has just completed an abbreviated ELI with church, government and business leaders in Ethiopia and will soon start one in South Africa.
Mike Wicker was not able to travel to Ethiopia because his mother passed away unexpectedly and entered heaven just before the trip. Please continue to keep Mike and his family in your prayers as they adjust to life without her.
Pray for the continued training of the 30 emerging leaders in leadership development issues using ILF principles. We praise God that the training was successful even though Mike was unable to facilitate as planned. He is coaching six of these national staff who were selected for the Emerging Leaders Initiative (ELI) program in Africa. The next module is scheduled for September.
Ghana
Give great praise to God for the introductory TLS held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST) on February 26th. A total of 80 participants attended the seminar. The Dean of Students, the Vice President of the Student Council and the Vice Chancellor of KNUST each gave opening remarks.
The Vice Chancellor (VC) attended ninety percent of the program and invited the ILF team to join him afterwards for refreshments and evaluation. The VC rated the TLS as excellent. Ben Ecklu reports, ?He proposed that the full TLS be held annually as part of the university?s leadership development program, not only for student leaders but also for faculty members. To show their seriousness, I was asked to stay an extra day on campus to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between ILF and KNUST to make the VC?s request official, or more appropriately, his command.?
Thank God for the excellent progress in organizing AFREG Ghana. The next meeting of the Advisory Board will be held in Accra this Thursday, April 7th.
Pray the Lord will provide the needed funds for this event from within Ghana. Ask for continual favor with individuals, churches, organizations and businesses as they are challenged to participate financially. Pray too that informal networking will spread favor and opportunity for involvement at every level.
Pray that the President of Ghana will be available for the opening ceremony of AFREG Ghana and also participate in the Forum. Ask for God's favor, which will allow the Vice President of Ghana to attend and participate too.
Thank God for providing more committed intercessors who have agreed to faithfully and consistently lift up the purpose and activities of AFREG Ghana before the Lord. Pray for them to stay the course and that there will be a continual flow of information of fresh requests and answers to prayers to keep them inspired.
Kenya
Praise God that ILF is now officially registered in Kenya.
Thank God for the many Kenyans who financially support ILF Kenya. Ask the Lord to continue to expand the numbers of people we minister with and that many more will become involved financially.
Pray for the follow-up of the 400+ participants who have already attended some level of TLS, as well as the 20 who have completed all three levels of TLS plus the advanced coaching sessions. These 20 are working through the 18-24 month process to qualify as certified ILF leadership coaches.
Thank God for the intercessors Andrea Madden was able to train in Nairobi last month. The number was small, but there was a wonderful commitment to consistently undergird ILF Kenya with their prayers. Pray this team will lead in expanding the prayer that genuine transformation requires.
Please pray for a suitable office where executives and government officials can come for meetings. Pray that God will provide a suitable office for ILF Kenya.
South Sudan
Doors are opening for a TLS and other ILF involvement in the new country of South Sudan. Pray for God to continue to keep these doors open and for ILF to receive favor. Pray that this young country will be able to avoid the usual pitfalls of so many African governments and begin with a firm foundation on God?s truth.
Togo
Please pray for the Holy Spirit to continue to move in the hearts of leaders in Togo to bring transformation for the glory of God.
Zimbabwe
Pray for ILU Zimbabwe as they host their first TLS from April 7th - 9th. Please pray for the team as they are anticipating approximately 150 participants. Pray that God will clear the way for everyone He has called to attend the first TLS in Harare. Lift up Drs. Adadevoh, Bellon and Koh who will be presenting.
