What is a Community Group?

A Community Group is 8-16 people who get together weekly to connect and study God's word. A trained leader guides each group. Meetings last for an hour and a half and includes dessert and plenty of time with friends. At the end of each semester, you will have the choice of staying in the same group, trying a new group or even taking a break. Most groups stay together throughout the entire year. Community Groups do not officially meet during the summer. However, plenty of groups meet for summer fellowship activities.

Why are they important?

Community Groups are the hub of our ministry. At PCC, we believe spiritual growth happens when people get connected to one another and God through his word. By living life together, we encourage one another to grow spiritually. It’s our desire to see every PCCer join a Community Group. Last year we had over 500 adults attend a small group.

What will we study?

Most of the groups study the previous weekend’s message. These “Sermon-based” Community Groups are the place where you get to roll up your sleeves and discuss how the sermon applies to real life. Each week there will be a series of Bible passages and questions on the back of the sermon note sheet to study before the meeting. Our three other areas of focus are based on a topic, book of the Bible or curriculum.

What about child care?

Community Groups are for adults only. (Exceptions can be made for nursing newborns, up to six months.) We also have reasonably priced child care available at the church on Wednesday mornings (9:30 – 11:30 am) and Wednesday nights (6:30-8:30 pm).

How do I choose a group?

We’ve found that groups do best when members share a common station-in-life and/or interest. When selecting a group, we recommend you choose a group based on its leader-host team and station-in-life, rather than its location. In the end, you’ll find it’s worth the drive! A word of advice: Groups fill up fast and the sooner you register the more likely it is that you will get your first choice.
