Winter Camp 2009 – Sign up now!!!

Letter to MSM Families:

From February 20th -22nd PCC’s Middle School Ministry will be up at Ponderosa Pines (in the Big Bear area) for our annual Winter Camp.  It will be an amazing weekend filled with worship, teaching, snowboarding/skiing, hanging out together, and a whole lot of fun.  We’re looking forward to all the incredible things God will do in the lives of our students during these few days.

With the stress and busyness of the holiday season, school, sports, and teen life in general, this will be a very refreshing weekend.  We will get away from everyday distractions and spend a few days focused on our amazing Creator and learning how to live more fully for Him.  There will be great teaching, awesome worship, and plenty of time to have fun and grow closer to each other and God.

I want to encourage all of our parents to make this trip a priority for your student.  Whether they need to re-focus their lives on Christ, be around loving adults who care for them, get better connected with other students in our group, or just have a weekend of fun, this trip will take care of it.  We have worked hard to lower our price ($60 lower this year!) to show our families that we want every student to be able to come.  And in case you’re still looking for Christmas gift ideas, sending your student to camp would be a great present!

To sign up, turn in all forms, along with a $60 deposit.  Spots are limited and registration prices go up, so sign up soon!  If you have any questions, feel free to call (940-2600) or email me personally (scotts@pccsc.org).   Thanks for the privilege of serving your family.  I’m looking forward to seeing your students there!

Christ’s Servant,

Scott P. Simons

Service Day

Just a reminder…

Saturday, Dec. 13th we’re going to the Community Center to serve a meal to less fortunate families.

I was extremely encouraged to see us fill all our spots and start a significant waiting list for this event well-under 24 hours after it was announced.

There’s a chance they may let us bring more people.  To get on the waiting list call Bobbi at 940-2600.

Breakaway Christmas Party

Tuesday, Dec. 9th is our Breakaway Christmas Party.
Click on the picture below for all the details. See you there!

Doing Christmas a little differently…

This past Tuesday we spent the night understanding that despite what our world tries to tell us, the Christmas season isn’t supposed to be a time where we bring the focus on ourselves.

Jesus taught that the way we live our lives should stand out because of our service to and love for others (John 13.34-35).  Real leaders are the ones who give up their time, effort, money, and other resources to put others ahead of themselves (Mark 10.43-45).

So how will you make this a Backwards Christmas?  How are you going to serve rather than be served?  How will you not only receive, but also give?  How will you be a true leader among your friends, family, relatives, and strangers in the next week, month, and year?

Favorite Christmas Movie?

On Sundays we’re doing a quick series called “Christmas at the Movies”.

We’re looking at themes from popular Christmas movies and seeing what God has to say about those themes and ideas.

What’s your favorite Christmas movie?
