the love of a Father on mother’s day
I like to earn things – I don’t want you to give me any freebies…
I’ve been listening to a lot of new music lately and it’s really been refreshing to me. Sometimes something as seemingly insignificant as music can change the way you think about life.  It can make you think about ideas and concepts that, for one reason or another, you have chosen to ignore.
One song (which I added to the playlist at the bottom of the page) that has done this for me is called “How He Loves”.
The song has reminded me of several things:
- I stand before God empty-handed; there is nothing that I can give him that did not come from him in the first place
- There are times when I treat God like trash
- The only thing I deserve from God is to be punished and ignored
- Yet, God not only offers forgiveness to me, but he loves me passionately and pursues me daily
Above, I have no problem remembering 1-3. Number 4 is the one that I tend to forget.
We need to be reminded of the amazing love of God.
How even though we have nothing to offer him, he is madly in love with us. Though we have earned and deserve nothing good, he gives us more than we could dream of.
I don’t care who you are or what you’ve done;Â understand this:
God is passionately in love with you and values you more than you could ever imagine. You can never do enough “good stuff” to earn his love – you don’t deserve it (we deserve the exact opposite) – YET, he has done everything he could possibly do to display that love. All we need to do is accept it.
Please, remember God’s love for you.
God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
1 John 4.9-10
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8.38-39
